The Asia Pacific Alliance of Rare Disease (APARDO) organized a series of talks to help senior leaders of rare disease advocacy groups and non-profits. I gave the first one

Overview

I was invited to conduct a strategic workshop for leaders of rare disease advocacy organizations across the Asia-Pacific region, sharing frameworks and practical tools to help these organizations build sustainable operations at any stage of development.

Key Topics Presented

  • Organization Development Framework: Identifying your organization's current stage (Emergent, Developing, Established, or Scaling) and corresponding needs
  • Strategic Change-Making Approaches: Four pathways to create impact through awareness, community action, market solutions, and systemic change
  • Digital Tools for Efficiency: Practical demonstrations of Airtable and other no-code tools for volunteer management, stakeholder tracking, and program metrics
  • Partnership Strategies: Building sustainable relationships with foundations, government agencies, and industry partners

Impact and Recognition

The interactive session facilitated valuable knowledge exchange among participants at different organizational stages. I received positive feedback from multiple country representatives:

  • Board members and executive directors from Taiwan, Indonesia, and Pakistan praised the practical applications
  • Leaders appreciated how the content addressed organizations at various maturity levels
  • Several participants noted the immediate applicability of the digital tools demonstrated

This presentation reflects my commitment to helping mission-driven organizations increase their impact through strategic operations, thoughtful digital transformation, and sustainable partnership development.
